Sanofi Pasteur Brings Hope Where Hurricane Sandy Left Hardship
- Company’s annual Adopt-a-Family drive delivers essential items to local families in need -

East Stroudsburg - December 14, 2012 – Sanofi Pasteur, the vaccines division of Sanofi, announced today that its employees collected and hand delivered gifts, non-perishable food items, and supermarket gift cards to Pocono Services for Families and Children (PSFC). These items were donated through the company’s “Adopt-a-Family” drive, which will benefit 31Monroe County Head Start families.

For the last 18 years, Sanofi Pasteur employees have brightened the holidays of local low-income families through this annual drive. Yet this year, as the Poconos community recovers from Hurricane Sandy, these employees’ generous efforts were even more critical.

“Many Monroe County Head Start families have fallen on especially hard times since Hurricane Sandy struck,” said Jackie Lapping, Center Director, PSFC. “With the extra expenses caused by the storm – home damages, food spoilage, etc. – these families are still trying to get back on their feet. The generosity demonstrated by Sanofi Pasteur and its employees could not have come at a better time.”

“Given the current economic challenges, the limited available resources, and the difficulties posed by Hurricane Sandy to local needy families, the call is greater than ever to continue this employee tradition and once again provide tangible support to these families,” said Ellyn Schindler, Director, Home State Public Affairs – Pennsylvania, Sanofi Pasteur.

To further aid Hurricane Sandy victims, Sanofi Pasteur employees are also contributing to the national chapter of the American Red Cross as part of a special program through the Sanofi Foundation for North America, which is providing a corporate dollar-for-dollar match of all employee donations.

The commitment Sanofi Pasteur employees have shown toward the “Adopt-a-Family” drive marks only one of the many ways the company and its workforce have given back to Head Start this year. Last month, employees and contractors delivered more than 200 pairs of winter boots, hats, and gloves to Monroe County Head Start families. Sanofi Pasteur donated significant funding to keep a primary Head Start classroom from closing for the 2012-2013 school year. And, as part of Sanofi’s Season of Solidarity program, employees and contractors donated dozens of handcrafted blankets to Monroe County Head Start children for use during naptime.
