Sanofi-aventis named One of Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles by National Business Group on Health

BRIDGEWATER, NJ, May 13, 2008 -- The National Business Group on Health, a national non-profit organization of large employers, today honored sanofi-aventis U.S. for its commitment and dedication to promoting a healthy workplace and encouraging a healthy lifestyle for its employees and families.
Sanofi-aventis U.S. was among 52 employers that received the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles award at the Leadership Summit sponsored by the National Business Group on Health’s (NBGH) Institute on the Costs and Health Effects of Obesity. The company received a Gold Award for its health awareness program.
“There’s no question that the passion, productivity and even the creativity of our employees are tied to their health and wellness,” said Liz Donnelly, Vice President, Benefits, Rewards & People Management for sanofi-aventis U.S. “It follows that the quality we bring to patients is related to the extent to which we help our employees and their families realize their health goals. The winning sanofi-aventis U.S. Health Awareness program is part of the company’s 5-year Sustainability plan, which is committed to continuously improve the healthcare provided to employees and their families. The strategy is two-fold, comprising both health information which is vigorously and regularly disseminated to employees and action, comprising numerous practical health programs and resources. Sanofi-aventis U.S. strongly encourages employees to identify their areas of personal health concern and take action to make necessary changes while the company supports these efforts on multiple levels using various communications tools.

Winners of the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles awards were honored in one of three categories: Platinum, for established programs with measurable outcomes; Gold, for creating cultural and environmental changes that support employees who have made a commitment to long-term behavior changes; and Silver, for those employers who have launched significant programs or services to promote living a healthier lifestyle.
